Welcome! We appreciate that you are reading our first post ever on our new travel blog: Independent Travel Cats. We have just taken our first step into the cyber world of travel blogging!
We are a young couple living in the San Francisco Bay area who love to travel, and want to share our travel experiences with the world. We both have very different backgrounds, outlooks on the world, and reasons for traveling; we hope that these diverse perspectives will enrich the usefulness and utility of the content of the blog to other travelers. We hope that through this blog we will be able to not only help others travel better, but that this blog will also provide an outlet for us to be able to connect with other travelers and learn from their experiences. We invite you to join us on our journey!
Our main goals for our new travel blog are threefold:
- Write good quality articles that will help others be more savvy travelers by traveling better, smarter, and more economically.
- Provide an outlet for Jessica’s desire to write (she had originally studied to be a writer but became a psychologist instead–research articles are only so interesting to write, but her attention to detail is great for travel planning)
- Open up a way to hear from other travelers so that we can learn and be encouraged from the experiences of others who love to travel like us.
While we continue to work on website design and learn the WordPress blogging ropes (we’re getting there!), we hope you will take the time to learn a bit more about us. You can learn more about the “travel cats” on our About Us page and you can also contact us here. We have also just set up social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and our blog is available at Bloglovin.
We hope you bookmark us and return again soon to see how our blog progresses!

Ethan just told me today that u guys recently were in germany for a few weeks. I have traveled there myself so many times (I have friends in all “states”). Anyway he told me that u guys are gonna return to germany so I have a suggestion for u two. While every region is a must see in germany my favorite road trip was on the fairytale road. R u familiar with the brothers grimm? Well this is their journey of collective stories. Hope u guys someday will do this journey. Its absolutely romantic!

Hello Cat! Thanks so much for all the info about the Fairytale Road, we haven’t heard about it before although we did drive part of the Roamntic Road. We’ll have to check it out the next time we are there. We were in Germany in May and hope to start adding posts about our German travels soon!
