We’ve driven the North Coast 500 many times since 2016, in every season, and have stayed in the majority of the 27 hotels below, from £20 hostel beds to castle rooms well over £250 a night. This guide is where we share which places are actually worth your night, region by region. Where to stay on the NC500, in short: most people change hotels almost every night as they drive the 516-mile loop, so the real question is where to base each leg. Inverness is the usual start and end point and has the widest choice of rooms. Ullapool and Lochinver are the two best bases for the wild west coast.
